If you've not heard of the Trutopia lads, then get to know! We discovered them a couple of years back and were instantly taken by their talent, passion and drive to succeed - with a thirst for collaboration, evident in the parties they throw.
Their latest release is a solid representation of how far they've come and we are tipping it to be filling dance floors for many summers to come.
As always with our Beats & Banter interviews, we like to delve a bit deeper into the artist/s personalities by asking some uncommon questions. It was no different this time!
Where do you live/where are you from?
Born & bred in South Wales & now living in London.
What's your favourite welsh meal?
Welsh breakfast is the one, cockles, lava bread & black pudding - BANGING!
Favourite local spots to eat and drink in your home town?
Its been a minute since we've been back but when ever we do, we head straight to the Gower Peninsula to have a few locally brewed “Gower Gold”.
Do you have any welsh sayings that our readers should know about?
“Nowen!” - You’ll always see us posting this on our socials. It means pretty much anything you want it to mean haha, that’s kind of the all the “Welsh” we know & it aint even Welsh!
Name 5 artists on rotation for you at the moment.
James Jacob, Girls Of The Internet, Saison, T.Williams & Timmy P.
Are there any Welsh artists coming through that people should look out for?
Yeah - these guys called "This Culture" - there also from Swansea, two wicked lads Lloyd & Fabio. They have amazing energy both on and off the decks with releases on the likes of Eric Morillo's Subliminal & more.
Tell us about your Trutopia house parties and what makes them such a vibe?
We’ve been throwing house for years, always hosting & bringing people together. I guess they started to make a bit of a name for themselves when we got a few friendly faces to pass through and bless the decks with us from the likes of ClydeP, Angelo Ferreri, TWilliams, Tough Love, Ben Sterling & more.
We’ve now transferred the house parties into a bi-monthly label party “TTR White” which we hold down in the basement of the Ace Hotel Shoreditch, bringing that raw house vibe which saw Shaddow Child & ZDS at our last party. Next date is 2nd August, tell a friend!
Don't just tell a friend- take a friend! We will be there. Check the event here...
Rugby or Football?
Kris is a bit of a boy with the football! So yeah, football - stick to what you're good at.
Beach club, bottle service or sweaty rave?
Bottle service at a sweaty rave on the beach? Ha! Nah if we had to pick one it would deffo be “sweaty rave” - Lately, we've been going to a few dodgy ones after our late-night show' finish and we've nowhere to go. The energy is always good & the vibes are always positive!
Tell us about your latest release on Nervous records and your upcoming events.
Nervous Records...Where do we start?
They're becoming quite the home for our music! We’re now on our 4th single release with those guys (& that's just the stuff you'd of heard).
Our latest record “Cant Let Go” is out now & has started to get some real good heat, on & off the dancefloor, with MixMag featuring it in they’re latest edition, Illyus & Barrientos dropping it at a packed out summer party & the likes of T.Williams, Icarus, Basement Jaxx & more supporting in the clubs & radio.
Whats coming up?
In terms of events we have a few lined up here in London, starting with the TTR White party on Aug 2nd at The Ace Hotel. Then we are on to Solomons Yard, Camden 24th August for another summer yard party. Mid September we are off to New York for a week of sessions with Nervous Records, followed by shows at ADE, then on to our Australia & Asia tours. Busy busy busy!
