In our next instalment of 'Get to know', we're luckily enough to be joined by rising star, Elle Charms off the back of her new song ‘Better Love’ being released.
We spoke to the Devon born singer songwriter about where she grew up, her musical influences, mischievous nightclub antics and what inspired her new single(which you can stream below).
Where are you from?
I grew up in the sticks in Mid Devon!
How can you best describe your sound?
I try to write songs that hit you in the chest, but still make you wanna dance.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
I grew up listening to a lot of Bon Iver, but also all the pop divas like Spice Girls and our queen Bey.
If someone was visiting Devon for the first time, where should they check out?
The North Devon beaches are so so beautiful. I love going there in winter when it's quiet - especially when it's stormy. I also love a night at Time Piece in Exeter. I've spent many a drunken night there sitting in the outdoors bit under the awnings adding vodka from a hip flask to a £2 diet coke (lol sorry TP).
Tell us a bit more about Studio Charms...
Studio Charms is a collective I've been creating over the last year that brings together stylists, photographers, artists etc to create a strong brand that lasts more than 5 mins on instagram.
Beach club, sweaty rave or acoustic night?
All of them!
What's the story behind ‘Better Love’?
I wrote Better Love with my good friend Measure For Measure. It came about when I wanted to write a song with everything I wanted an ex to say to me at the end of a relationship but he never did. It took a while to find the write lyrics because I found it so hard to open up about such a weird subject for me. But I'm so glad I did. It was honestly the biggest form of closure for me.
What can we expect from you next?
You'll have to just to wait and see…!
