GOOSE, a four-piece band from Belgium bridge the gap between rock and rave with their electronica infused beats. Dubbed “Europe’s answer to new rave’ by NME, their second studio album ‘Synrise’ released in 2010, featured the same titled landmark track, which was to later be used in a Dior ready to wear campaign and remixed by Soulwax to be featured in GTA5. This October 18th marks the 10-year anniversary of the album, celebrated by the production of a special documentary with a focus on the making of the track and the artwork by legendary Pink Floyd cover artist Storm Thorgerson.
Alongside their release schedule the guys also have their signature live set ‘GOOSE NON STOP’ as showcased at events including Tomorrowland and Pukkelpop. They’ve teamed up with Audi in 2018 for a special live synthesizer performance called ‘Circles’ for the R8 engine launch, and this October will release a 5-minute video of ‘Synrise’ with the use of special immersive 8D audio technology in collaboration with Sennheiser and PXL.
GOOSE INTERVIEW WITH FRANKIE SALT
What is unique about the place you live, or is it famous for something?
We live in Kortrijk, one of the oldest cities in Belgium. The recent years it has become a much younger city with lots of students in arts, gaming and design.
It’s known for lots of local breweries, good restaurants/bars and for its location along ‘De Leie’ aka ‘The Golden River’. The music scene is also really interesting. A lot of 70s and 80s disco productions were made in the area by Patrick Hernandez who also is one of the people who discovered Madonna at a very young age. He worked with her on numerous disco records as a background singer and dancer.
Through lockdown, what has been your favourite thing to do at the weekend?
In the lockdown everyday seemed like Sunday, but we didn’t stop making music. So, in fact that was our favourite thing to do, nobody was calling or emailing, so we could just do our thing without any distractions or being disturbed.
Have you visited any wicked local glamping or wild sites throughout lockdown?
We enjoyed a couple of days in the Belgian Ardennes and we went surfing in Biarritz.
Any side hustles or skills you want to share with us?
Recently Dave has got into Flyfishing and Tom just closed the bar he was running throughout the summer.
What cheeky banger has been playing through your speakers on repeat for the last 6 months?
Favourite Friday night dinner at home or restaurant?
Belgian fries, mayonnaise and burger in front of the tv at home.
What current projects are you working on?
This month we have the 10-year Anniversary of our album ‘Synrise’. It was a special album and career changing release, so we wanted to celebrate, and have made a brand-new documentary which will be released around the 18th. Apart from that we just finished an EP that will come out early next year and started working on a full album. Apart from that we are experimenting with immersive audio, so you can expect something coming out soon using this technology.
