Ahead of his ‘Into The Morning’ LP release on This Ain’t Bristol, Kyle Watson shares with us his top seven clubs in the U.S. The selections made by the South-African artist depict exactly the kind of environments he thrives in and is sure to make for an appealing overview for you readers. Watson is also set to embark on Dirtybird’s West-coast campout in California on October 5th, an event not to be missed if you’re in the area.
This was my most recent show in the States and one of the best I’ve ever played. The crowd there are absolutely crazy, you’re right on their level so it’s easy to connect with them.
Beta (Denver) 1909 BLAKE ST., DENVER, CO 80202
Amazing club with one of the best systems I’ve heard. Plus there’s an entire system in the booth for the DJ!
Halcyon (SF)314 11th ST., SAN FRANCISCO, CA 94103, USA
The crowd in San Francisco are really responsive, and the lighting and vibe in this venue are second to none.
Grasshopper Underground (Detroit)22757 WOODWARD AVE, FERNDALE, MI 48220, USA
I played my first ever club show in the US here. Awesome dark little room with low ceilings and a great sound system.
Pretty big room with the craziest lighting! The crowd is right in front of you so you can really connect with them.
My first US show and festival, and one of the most memorable! Fantastic festival with a diverse lineup and cool energy.
Spybar (Chicago)646 N FRANKLIN ST., CHICAGO, IL 60654, USA
Another of my favourites! The best thing about this room is the low ceiling and a guy behind the bar who blows a giant air horn when it starts getting hot and sweaty!
